"After the Foreign Ministry was informed about issue, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Belarus was commissioned to pursue the matter urgently,” said Khatibzadeh in response to the reporters’ related questions.

He said that keeping in mind the significance and urgency of the matter, efforts have been made to contact the Iranian inmates, and accordingly, in addition to our ambassador’s telephone talk with one of our troubled citizens, the required measures were taken for returning them to the country, the ambassador headed for the boarder point where they are and began negotiations with the border guards aimed at resolving the problem.

“The Iranian Embassy is continually in touch with the concerned offices in Belarus and has officially informed the Belarus side of Tehran’s serious concern about the status of the Iranian citizens,” said Khatibzadeh.

He said that the issue is meanwhile pursued through contacts with Belarus Embassy in Tehran.

“We are sure that the Belarus government in the framework of the friendly Tehran-Minsk relations cooperate sufficiently and make the required moves till the release of the Iranian citizens, and the Foreign Ministry, too, will seriously pursue the matter till its full resolving,” he said.
